Retro Cabin Vibes in Big Bear, California
Big Bear Mountain is a little over two hours from Los Angeles and San Diego, and it's the perfect weekend getaway to the woods! Yes, California isn't all just sand and beaches, and Big Bear is home to a ski resort in the winter too, so you can even enjoy some snow too. We found this amazing, mid-century mod cabin in the woods on Airbnb and knew it was the perfect place for a quiet weekend escape!
Stay at This Rad 70s Cabin in Big Bear, California
Treehouse Vibes isn't your regular Airbnb. Tastefully upgraded and decorated by two LA creatives with vintage and modern mid-century style furniture, it's unlike anything else you've seen in Big Bear and is definitely the coolest place to stay on the mountain. Staying here was the absolute perfect place to unwind, relax, and cozy up by the fire. The full kitchen is perfect for cooking comfort food, and the two sleeping areas would make it the perfect place for a fun friends trip too!
Every detail of this cabin spoke to us, from the curated book selection to the original wood paneling, so you can feel like you're stepping back in time (but without losing your wifi or bluetooth speakers). The back of the cabin has a huge patio with a barbecue, perfect for enjoying your coffee outside in the woods or entertaining at night.

The location is central to the ski resort, grocery stores, and some restaurants nearby if you want to get out and explore. The backyard is super cool because you can wander directly into the forest to a ton of nature trails and truly explore Big Bear. The backyard is literally the wilderness; located just a couple hundred feet from the dirt road entrance to the National Forest where you can hike or ride ATVs and dirt bikes, if that's your thing.
But don't feel guilty if you just want to stay in the cabin and play board games, read, or enjoy some quiet time. That's what we did! Treehouse Vibes is one of the coolest Airbnb's we've stayed in and we will definitely be back for another stay.
