Craft Beer and Flightseeing in Nanaimo, BC
On our last day in Nanaimo, BC we had a fun day taking in the sights from an airplane tour, enjoying the local craft beer scene, and finding a crazy cool staircase / tree fort thanks to Instagram! Here's some of our favorite things to do in Nanaimo if you're coming for a visit, and you can check out the first part of our trip here too!
White Sales Brewing
White Sails Brewing is definitely a must-visit when you're in Nanaimo, and it's part of the BC Ale Trail! We loved seeing the growlers from all over BC on display, and this is definitely a chill spot to enjoy with friends. You can pick up some take-out food and enjoy it with a flight in the tasting room, or they have pizza for sale sometimes too. Gluten-free? No worries, they have wine and cider too!
In the afternoon, we got to take a super cool and super scenic "flightseeing" tour with Sunshine Coast Air! If you're visiting the PNW, this is an awesome opportunity to really get to take in all that the northwest has to offer - trees, water, and gorgeous views. Our tour was about 20 minutes, and it was super fun and peaceful to put on the headphones and just enjoy nature from up above.
Later in the day we went off on a little adventure to find this cool staircase we found on Instagram! This is a bad travel blogger moment, but we totally forget the name of this beach. Eeks! If you know what it's called, leave us a comment! Anyway, there's this cool cathedral-like staircase that is super unique, and it's along the prettiest beach walk.
Near the end of the night we lit some sparklers and then headed back to White Sails Brewing for some beers and takeout. It was an awesome evening, and we loved our big, white, ocean-front rooms at the Coast Bastion Hotel Nanaimo. If you don't want to take a ferry to Nanaimo, we definitely recommend Helijet or Harbour Air! 20 minutes in the air is so much better than hours on a ferry.
Thanks for having us, Nanaimo!
