A Winter Escape to Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler, BC
It isn't winter until you've been to Whistler! Spring may be here but the snow is still falling up on Whistler Blackcomb, and last month we visited Nita Lake Lodge to celebrate their 10th anniversary! We've been coming to Nita Lake for years, it's the perfect cozy cabin atmosphere with all the amenities you need: restaurant, bar, spa, and of course - so close to the ski lifts!
Where to Stay in Whistler: Nita Lake Lodge
Nita Lake Lodge is a gorgeous winter lodge situated right on, you guessed it, Nita Lake in Whistler, BC. We had a beautiful room with an epic view looking on to the mountains and the frozen lake. Even though it was chilly, we loved bundling up with a morning coffee on our patio and enjoying the view. If you're looking for the quintessential ski lodge experience, this is where you'll find it in Whistler!
Nita Lake Lodge has really big rooms, which is perfect when you're travelling with a ton of ski gear and warm clothes. It's even pet friendly, too! So you can bring your dog and both enjoy the trails around the lake or the cozy fire pits on the patio. There's even an spa on site so you can get a massage to relax those sore ski muscles!
Dining at Nita Lake Lodge
When it's cold outside, the last thing you want to do is leave the hotel to get food! Lucky for you there are THREE awesome restaurants located in the lodge so you have both convenience and options. Aura is a brand new restaurant in Whistler, and you can sit and enjoy dinner with a beautiful lakefront view. Executive Chef James Olberg combines local, west coast ingredients with traditional French cooking to create some seriously amazing dishes. Our favourite was the AAA angus beef tenderloin wrapped in smoked mushrooms, yumm!
If you just want to chill out with a burger, beer, and live music, have a casual dinner at Cure Lounge and make some new friends. We also grabbed breakfast every morning at Fix Cafe, which has a ton of vegan and gluten-free grab and go options!
Uploading to Whistler VIA Creekside
Of course, you'll want to hit the slopes in Whistler too. Whistler Blackcomb is now a part of Vail Resorts, which means we can use our 'Epic Pass' at over 15 ski resorts! Nita Lake Lodge isn't located right in Whistler Village, which we actually love. Across the street is Creekside Village, and you can upload right onto the mountain from there! Pro tip: the lineups are shorter and this is where the locals go to get up the mountain, so that made staying at Nita Lake Lodge SO convenient.
Around Nita Lake
Like we said, we really do love the fact that Nita Lake Lodge isn't located right in Whistler Village. Sometimes being right in the village is very overwhelming, and we loved the peace and quiet around Nita Lake. There's a ton of trails to explore, either on snowshoe or by foot, and there's a few lakes to visit too! Going for a sunny walk in the snow was exactly what we needed to end a beautiful day in Whistler.
