Sunsets and Succulent Gardens in Balboa Park
A trip to San Diego isn't complete without a visit to Balboa Park! This huge city park is one of those rare finds that is beloved by both locals and tourists, and is a green oasis in this beach town. Across the street from the main park is the 1935 Old Cactus Garden, which is full of succulents, cacti, and crazy looking "trees." Plus, it's free!
We had originally planned to go to the super rad San Diego Botanical Gardens in Balboa Park, but unfortunately they were closed. So we hopped across the street to the cactus garden! It was gorgeous at sunset, and totally worth a visit (especially if you're not used to cacti vegetation).
Balboa Park isn't just a park, it's full of museums, the botanical gardens, and of course - the famous San Diego Zoo! Fun for the kids, or just the kids at heart. Balboa Park is over 1200 acres, and it's smack dab in the middle of cool neighbourhoods (and right by our fave North Park).
We just love San Diego so much. You can check out our local San Diego city guide here, along with the rest of our blog posts about this gorgeous city!
